Is climate change a technical or a spiritual problem?

Thanks for all your entries to our competition to win a course at the School of Life. The lucky winner was Hannah from Chichester, who thought that we should be optimistic about our chances to survive climate change because:

...although humans hate change, we are quite good at it really. Plus, I believe humans were actually designed for a slower pace of life.

'Honourable' mentions go to the following suggestions - we should be optimistic about our chances to survive climate change because:

Someone will invent a huge carbon sponge.

Darwin built us with adaptation built in so we can just change slightly to deal with the effects, like we might grow kind of gills so we can breathe the polluted air and stuff like that.

If we made it to the moon in the era of the twin-tub washing machine, surely we can find something else to plug our iPhones into?

Several people mentioned the moon landing as a demonstration of our ability to overcome challenges. For some of you, climate change feels like a technical problem that requires ingenuity. Others of you felt that survival is more about rediscovering traditional values and getting out of the fast lane.
