How retirement works

Carbon Retirement retires allowances from the EU Emission Trading Scheme. This is the central tool that European governments use to manage greenhouse gas emissions.

By using Carbon Retirement, you can reduce the number of rights to emit greenhouse gases that are available to heavily polluting industries. This forces them to reduce their emissions.
